What We Stand For
Property Rights
  • This measure infringes on landowner’s rights to use their personal property as they see fit.
  • Passage of such a measure will not only limit the property rights of game preserve owners, it will affect the rights of all property owners.
  • The measure will ban the harvesting of deer, elk, bison and other game on certain private lands, and it could be the beginning of restrictions that impede a landowner’s ability to provide (or prohibit) any kind of game hunting access on his or her land.
  • This initiated measure violates our property rights and limits the ability of North Dakotans to make a living off their land.
  • If passed, this measure will prevent game producers from sending their livestock to market for slaughter and sale.

Preserving all Hunting Traditions
  • North Dakotans have a long tradition of hunting and respect for the sport of hunting in all its forms.
  • Hunters should have the freedom to choose whether they wish to hunt on a game preserve or not.
  • North Dakota game preserve owners recognize that a quality hunting experience requires the same conditions whether on a preserve or off – it must offer good terrain with a challenging layout as well as balanced animal populations that have the ability to escape. All of this and more is offered by these entrepreneurial landowners.

Game Preserves – Good Operators - Good for North Dakota
  • Game producers raise healthy animals in a safe environment and monitor them closely.
  • Game preserve livestock are tightly regulated by the North Dakota Board of Animal Health.
  • Game preserve hunters bring in much needed out-of-state money into rural communities.
